All cookery items must be covered with cling film.

Lemon Drizzle Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
6oz butter, 6oz caster sugar, 2 eggs, 4 tbsp milk, 6oz self-raising flour and the finely grated zest of 1 lemon.

For the drizzle topping:
Juice of 2 lemons and 2 tbsp sugar.

Method:

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C / Fan 160°C / Gas 4.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs and milk.
  3. Fold in the lemon zest and flour.
  4. Line a 2lb loaf tin, pour in the mixture and cook for 50 to 65 minutes, until golden brown.
  5. Meanwhile, mix together the lemon juice and sugar. Pour over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven and allow the topping to set before taking the cake out of the tin.
  6. Present on a plate for the judges to judge.

The EXMOOR PHOTOGRAPHY TROPHY is awarded to the Exhibitor gaining the most points in Classes 73 to 78, inclusive.

The PITSWORTHY CUP is awarded to the Best Exhibit in Classes 73 to 78 inclusive.

The SARAH JAMES MEMORIAL SHIELD will be awarded for the Best Overall Children's Entry.

The THREE BOYLES CUPS are awarded to the children with the most points in Classes 79 to 86, 87 to 94 & 95 to 102.

The THREE PIDLER CUPS are awarded to the Best Exhibit in each section.

OPEN TO EXFORD & SIMONSBATH CHILDREN & CHILDREN WITH A RELATIVE RESIDING IN THE EXFORD & SIMONSBATH PARISH.

1st Prize £1.00 (3 pts.); 2nd 60p (2 pts.); 3rd 40p (1 pt.).
